I was born in Preston, Lancashire but moved to Greater Manchester when I got married at the age of 21. I have always had a strong desire to help people, a desire I think I inherited from my parents. My mum was a nurse and my dad and grandad were both firemen. Growing up wasn't easy especially during my parents marriage break down and very acrimonious divorce. My mum set the perfect example, working 3 jobs to keep a roof over our heads and for that I will be eternally grateful. However I did not want to become just another statistic or stereotype, labelled a kid from a broken home, so at the age of 13 I applied to the Local Authority for a work permit and got myself a Saturday job at Chelsea Girl now known as River Island in Preston. I stayed there until I left college, where I had studied Art & Design. My maternal grandad was an artist in his spare time, painting still life subject and my artistic abilities were certainly inherited from him. I achieved good grades at school and left with 7 'O' Levels and 2 CSE qualifications. I left college with a BTEC National Diploma, an 'O' Level and an 'A' Level.

I had planned to get a job as a graphic designer however my plans changed when I met my future husband on a blind date. This whirlwind romance changed my life completely. We met in August 1989, got engaged in December 1989 and bought our first home together in April 1990. With little chance of getting a well paid job within graphic design anytime soon and a mortgage to pay I applied for a job at the local opticians, D&A as a receptionist and slowly worked my way up finally qualifying as a Dispensing Optician in 1996. Jason and I married in 1992 and moved to Radcliffe in Bury, Greater Manchester the same year. We stayed there for about 10 years and in 2002 moved to Dukinfield.

This house move like the blind date once again changed my life completely as it was this house move that was to mark to beginning of both mine and Jason's spiritual journey. The couple that we purchased the house from attended the local Spiritualist church and had been told by one of the mediums that a couple with the initials J and J, driving a gold car would buy their house. The initials J and J, (ring any bells?) and at the time I owned a gold Peugeot 306! We kept in touch after we moved and Andrea and Steve persuaded us to go along with them to their church where Jason and I received a message from the medium on stage. What that medium told us could not have been known by anyone but ourselves.

After suffering for years with a major health problem, Polycystic Ovary Syndromethat remained undiagnosed until my twenties and a horrible road traffic accident my focus moved to healing. I had always had a strong desire to help people but unlike my mum I am very squeamish and faint at the sight of blood so nursing had never been a career contender. When we moved to Dukinfield I was introduced to a Reiki practitioner who treated my constant migraines and period pain and the results astounded me. She also attended a spiritualist church so I began this particular part of my journey by joining the local spritualist church that Andrea and Steve had introduced us to and quickly followed this by studying and becoming attuned to Reiki. I carried on with my studies working my way up to Master / Teacher level and also qualified in many other healing modalities. I now have my own Holistic Therapy Business and have recently opened a training centre in Hyde, passing on my skills and knowledge to my clients and students.

Jason and I do not have any children, as a result of my health problem, but between us we have numerous nieces and nephews. We don't have any pets but we do have lots of crystals.
