Joanne’s Reiki Journey

My Reiki journey started quite by accident one day. Whilst suffering from a headache during a visit to a friend I received a Reiki treatment and was completely amazed at the heat I could feel coming from my friend’s hands. My headache cleared and it left me wanting to know more. My friend, a Reiki Master Teacher offered to attune me to Reiki Level I and before I knew it my life had changed direction totally. I had been a qualified Dispensing Optician for many years and although I enjoyed my job and was happily married I always felt there was something missing but was not aware of exactly what.

I began to do research on the internet, bought books (infact I think I have more Reiki books than Amazon), I just wanted to know more and more. I was beginning to take an interest in other forms of healing and therapy and it was while I was part of a crystal healing group that I heard about Stephen Lovering. Stephen is a very experienced Reiki Master Teacher and I began my Reiki journey all over again with him. The attuenments were amazing and I was learning more and more. By the time I was attuned to Reiki Master Teacher Level, I was already becoming qualified in other therapies and had set up my own healing practice, Holistic Healing Hands.

So far all my training had been in the Western branch of Usui Shiki Ryoho and it wasn’t until Stephen attended a Reiki course in Scotland with Frans and Bronwen Stiene that I became aware that there was much more to Reiki. I can remember speaking to him on the telephone while he was on the course and he was telling me about one of the workshops he had attended that day. He was completely blown away with what he was being told and shown and I couldn’t wait until he was able to teach me. Nearly a year later he ran the Usui Reiki Ryoho course in Birmingham and I of course attended along with a friend. It was the most amazing 3 days that allowed me to develop more spiritually as well as bringing me closer to Reiki. Now I want to share this with my students and bring them closer to Reiki. About four years ago I opened a new therapy training school, Chrysalis Therapy Training with my friend Cindy, providing our students with the necessary tools to faciliate growth and change, related to either their career or personal development.
